The World Information War and the Western Monopoly

Information is one of the most effective, influential and decisive part of modern war. Of course it is a weapon and is widely used in modern war. Social media is widely used to spread desired information and it is not a level playing field. Take the example of Ukraine and Russia war. How effectively these information weapons are used. It is controlled by Western countries. There are four giants of information and media they are Twitter, Facebook, Google, Apple. Russian State media is barred from monetizing counter Apple and it has been blocked from Applestore. Surprisingly Facebook which is highly sensitive when there is any post against Israel and if someone mentions Israeli atrocities against Palestinian Muslims or if someone if mentions Indian forces atrocities against people of Kashmir it is not bother to block such information and posts but it has gladly allowed war posts urging violence against invaders. Reuters reported that Meta Platform ( Facebook official) will allow Facebook and Instagram users in some countries to call for violence against Russians and Russian soldiers in the context of Russian attack on Ukraine. Wave of anti-Russian sentiments is very high in Europe and America. Whatever the sentiments we see against Russia in present day sine Russian Ukraine war has been started what if same war was started by United State of America. What about American invasion against Iraq and Afghanistan. What about US and European sanctions and campaign against Iran? Look at the history of USA which attacked wage war against 84 countries out of total 193 countries recognized by United Nations. It means that 43% of the world had been invaded or waged war by United States of America. The United States has vetoed dozens of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions critical of Israel, including at least 53 since 1972, according to UN data. This is double standard and hypocrisy and one of the major hindrances in durable global peace. Big technology firms made huge profit from the so called American war against terrorism. Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Amazon were the major beneficiaries. The Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense collectively spent US$ 44 billion on services from Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Twitter. They provided services like, access to database, cloud computing services, Drone technology and pushing narratives. Facebook alone got advertisements worth US$ 350,000 to promote federally funded extremism watch. They promoted pushing stories against so called Islamic Extremism while it had nothing to do with Islam and a narrative of those who are totally ignorant of Islam where killing one innocent person is equal to killing whole world while saving one innocent person’s life is virtue of saving whole humanity. Facebook is used by 2.7 billion on daily basis; Twitter is used by 206 million people daily, YouTube Daily 122 million people. About one hundred key persons working in US security agencies are working or running technology giants. Jared Cohen was policy planner in US state department is now founder and CEO of Jigsaw, Google; Steve Pandelides was working in counter terrorism centre, FBI and now is director Security Amazon web services. Joseph D Rozek was special Assistant to President USA is now Executive Director Microsoft. These are the tips of iceberg only.

In a nut and shell information weapon needs to be countered and Russia and China should join hands to counter the propaganda war to turn world into multi-polar as uni-polar world is a threat for durable peace.
