Time to think about Pakistan

(Shakoor Rasool, )

19th June 2012, a historic day for Pakistan when first time in history it’s elected Prime Minister was straight away disqualified by Supreme Court of the country, prior Prime Minister was disqualified by Supreme Court on 26th of April this year. On 26th of April Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was not likely to leave his luxurious office but this time including President Asif Ali Zardari all the PPP’s members welcome the court verdict and Gilani was consulted to leave the Prime Minister Secretariat. Any way this was the democratic step taken by PPP’s members to accept the court verdict and act upon it. I personally appreciate. Now Gilani was out and government has to choose new prime minister. So from the last couple of hours meetings were arranged to put someone forward as new prime minister. Different name had been considered but not yet finalized. As for as I think this is not the proper time to select someone else as a Prime Minister, because Supreme Court will also ask the newly elected Prime Minister to write a letter to foreign courts regarding president Zardari’s assets. And it is qualified fact that PPP government and their Prime Minister will never do that. Now on the spot after analyzing the complete scenario I come to the conclusion that parliament and all provincial assemblies should be dissolved any way and election commission of Pakistan should announce the next general election as soon as it can.

Any way political parties traditionally react on this verdict. It was confirmed by MQM sources that London is agree with Supreme Court verdict. Imran Khan and some other PTI leaders hold the full credit with themselves because the petition of this case was first of all submitted by PTI. Further PML N leader Nawaz Sharif talked to media and commented that this was the real accountability, now government should be suspended and new elections should be announced. So now if we analyze, PTI is out of assemblies while MQM is on government benches but PML N holds 92 seats in national assembly as opposition and the Punjab government. My very tough question for PML N is why you don’t want to left the offices???........ And why you don’t resign?......

If only PML N will resign from national and Punjab assembly then the federal government will be automatically in gutter because it will not be able to continue and it is also impossible for election commission to re-arrange by-elections in whole of Punjab and 92 constituencies of national assembly only for six to seven months. On the other side common people also don’t want this government to continue because of bundles of issues.

In short I would prefer to say that new election is the only way to come out from all the difficulties and to sustain the democratic system in Pakistan. May be elections doesn’t go in favor of PPP and their coalition partners but it’s the time to think only about Pakistan and its common people.
