Pakistanis are, no wonder, a
wonderful nation. We are intelligent, hardworking and ambitious. Our land is one
of the most beautiful lands on the earth. There are mountains, rivers, deserts,
plain areas and coastal areas. This is a country with immense natural resources
in the form of coal, natural gas, gold and copper, to name a few. Still we are
poor and far behind in the race of growth and prosperity. Instead of growing day
by day, we are declining rapidly. Our neighbors, who got independence along with
us, are looking for a permanent seat in UNSC while we are looking towards World
Bank and IMF to fill our tummies. We hardly see any good news in our daily
newspapers except of successful experiments of missiles and related technologies
every now and then. Some people suggest that we are at the verge of a collapse
and some are of the view that we are a failed state. Although this is
indigestible but still a fact. Having been over burdened by all crises-poverty,
illiteracy, power crisis, terrorism, in-equality and intolerance- it is
difficult to assume that we shall rise until we do not try to undo the causes
that are leading us toward a blind allay.
To every action there is a reaction and to every fall there is a rise. this is a
natural phenomenon to keep the equilibrium on earth. Rise and fall is a common
destiny of all the nations and no nation can say no to the divine force that
leads to the fall of a nation. But, wise nations find out the ways and means to
hamper their destiny by modifying it according to their own will. Yes we can
change our destiny if we utilize our wisdom and become committed to our goals
and have a clear mind set for our future perspectives.
The only cause of our expected fall is a lack of unity. We have forgotten our
identity as Pakistani among ourselves. We use the word Pakistani only to
introduce ourselves in front of foreigners instead of recognizing and
implementing it on our daily life. America, having not an older history of its
existence, got independence in 1789. It was a mixed culture of English, French,
Spanish and Russian individuals. Once they got independence, they forgot what
they were and all became Americans. Thats why they are leading the world today.
If we look at ourselves, sixty three years after independence we are arguing on
Sindhi, Balochi, Punjabi and Pathan. Ironically the divide is not only on
linguistic bases but also on sect, caste, tribe and social status etc, etc. It
seems that we find clues to get divided on any base. Not ready to tolerate
others at any cost. I never observed unity among ourselves except for a few
occasion when there were would-be wars between Pakistan and India or a cricket
match against the same. We consider India our enemy but are unaware of other
enemies who are more destructive. We need to be united against all evils that
are dragging us towards failure before it is too late.
We can rise for sure, if we act on the lesson by the Father of the Nation, Quaid
e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The lesson of Unity, Faith and discipline. And i
believe that faith and discipline automatically come when there is unity.
