Cell Phones Banned At School

(Hafiz Tayyab Muhammad Khan, Karachi)

On this day and age a large amount of teenagers own a cell phone. Schools have noticed and as a result principals have banned students from using cell phones during the school day. Students should not be permitted to use cell phones at school because of cheating, loud noise, and distracting for the user of the phone. A banned on cell phones would make the classes run smoother.

Cheating is tricky and hard to get away with but when you add cell phones cheating is made easy. Teachers give tests to see how much the individual is learning. If the students are having troubles with a hard question on a quiz. They could txt a friend or a company such as Cha Cha to get the answer. Also newer phones have Internet that a student could use just to search the answer or double check their whole test to get a good grade. Most math teachers do not allow their students to use calculators due to the algebra and complicated division/multiplication problems. Cell phones have calculators built in which would be easy accesses for a student to use in homework or test. Which would not be fair to all the other students that don’t have phones or calculators to use.

Cell phones can hold many ringtones and music. Students could get txt messages during class and their phones ringtone or buzzing would be really distracting and rude. No one would be able to learn and the teachers would even find it hard to teach with all the racket. Also phones can have tons of songs to listen to. So instead of taking notes students would be jamming out. A room full of teenagers that all have cell phones would be too much noise and chaos.

When people have their phones they want to use all the necessities on them. Such as Internet, email, texting, pictures, games. You can do it all! So why would young pupils want to be listening to a lecture when they could be playing an exciting game on their phone? The device is to distracting to have while getting an education. It is good to be concentrated and focused on your schoolwork not getting sidetracked by messages from friends.

In conclusion, students should not be permitted to use cell phones at school due to inequitable resources to get answers to test, the loud distracting vibrations, and wanting to text and use the phone during class time. The principals will be working hard deciding on this issue.
