A Thoughtless philosophy
(Syed Hassam Ahmed, Karachi)
“Worst Democracy is better than
a best Dictatorship” this proverb is the accepted wisdom amongst current rulers
, politicians and at some extent, parts of the media sector.
This thinking can be widely appreciated or liked within the political circles,
or if it is said that this idea has only been appreciated within the political
sphere that would also be correct.
However, if we consider the opinion of the general public , then in the eyes of
a regular citizen this thought is nothing more than a humorous gesture and does
not quite appreciate it.
How is it possible , that a regular person does not like the ruler or the order
of the rule, in which he is made available , if not all then most of the
facilities to lead a good life just on the basis of dictatorship?
And how can we approve of such a democracy in which we cannot even attain
essential facilities , such as bread , clothes , shelter , electricity , etc?
How can we like a democracy , in which the rulers acquire billion dollars worth
of loan for the country and spend every single dime on their own luxuries and
comforts , while on the other hand the mass is suffering from the same poverty,
congestion , un-employment , indigence and hunger?
Through your resource , I would like to inform our democratic government that
this in all is an imaginative clause , of which the mass has no part. The
Pakistani nation only needs a leader that will work for the prosperity and
success of the country and will consider his sole purpose to serve the people of
the country, whether he is a dictator or an elected individual.
