I see all the new signs that
say “Save Our Schools.” I think that is what the merger of schools is intended
to do. This discussion needs to take place on a rational basis. What is the best
way forward for an excellent education for all of our students? If we keep the
status Quo, it will cost more. I have never voted against a school levy and will
support what it takes for a good educational system. Any poll about merging
schools needs to include a question about willingness to raise taxes. An
investment in education will make this a better community. If people think that
smaller schools provide a better education, then we need to step up and pay for
them. If a merger provides a better education, then we should be open to change.
