EID AND LEAs

The holy month of Ramadan is soon going to end and Eid day is forthcoming. People after accumulating great courage have started shopping at last as the ongoing bloodshed game has a little been stopped by the efforts of surgical operation that was conducted after critics demanded Army deployment in Karachi! The government preferred not to call Army but to conduct surgical operation by rangers and police claiming that rangers and police are able to stem carnage in Karachi!

During few weeks, a lot of people lost their lives in Karachi as there was no let-up in massacring the people by the terrorists from various political parties and the overall situation showed a complete anarchy! Neither did Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) performed their duties well and nor did the government showed its responsibility and let the innocent people die in hands of the terrorists! Scores of people lost their lives, hundreds of people were displaced from their houses and people’s businesses were destroyed! Even new ways to kill people are spreading that show great inhumanity! Previously people were killed with firing but now the trend to use gunny-bags has taken place! The terrorists kill a person and stuff him into the bag and discard it somewhere else! Think a little what would happen with those who lost their dear ones in recent carnage! How will they spend their Eid day?! Who will cure or remedy their wounds?! Can anybody return their dear ones back?! Who is responsible for these questions?!

Recently I saw a video clip on facebook concerning the police deployed out of mosques on Eid day! One of the police constables and an SHO cried out complaining that they perform their duty far from their homes on Eid day and provide security to the people but none embrace them after Namaz-e-Eid ends! It’s reality but actually the matter of concern is that Pakistani police has perhaps lost its credibility due to its own bad deeds and people don't trust it! This is the reason people avoid embracing police constables on Eid day! I can understand the feelings or emotions of the police constable and indeed people should understand too but police itself should also amend so that people could not hesitate to meet or embrace the police officials!

Once I faced the same situation on Eid day that the ranger officials were deployed at a mosque along with the police. People embraced ranger officials but avoided to embrace police constables! The miserable constable longed for someone who could embrace them too but none concentrated towards them unfortunately! I think the way police and ranger officials are performing their duties, people will avoid embracing ranger officials too! Hence it's too essential to amend the performance of rangers and police to bag people's trust on them again! When the nation feels secure under police and rangers shade, surely they will be respected a lot and the gape between the nation and the LEAs will surely be eradicated! May Allah Almighty preserve all of us! Aameen!
