Pakistan and Moldova have immense opportunities to strengthen their bilateral ties and to enhance their trade volume. Moldova although a small but highly important and beautiful country but people here in Pakistan know very little about it. Thanks to Honourary Consul General of Moldova in Pakistan, His Excellency Mian Mehmood who has left no stone unturned to introduce Moldova and is doing excellent efforts to further improve bilateral relations of two countries.
The Republican of Moldova is a beautiful country in Eastern Europe. It is bordered by Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north, east and south. Moldova is a parliamentary republic with a president as head of state and prime minister as head of government. It is a member of UNO, Council of Europe, The World Trade Organization, and The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) , Common Wealth of Independent State (CIS).
Moldova has a distinguished honour having both ladies president Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita at the helm of affairs, which show a great respect for women in Moldavian society and trust on women as their leaders. Its capital is Chisina, official languages are Moldovan and Romanian. It got independence from Russia on 27th August, 1991. It is a very small country having only area of 33, 843.5 sq km and a very small population of 2.597 million.

DCFTA ( Deep and comprehensive Trade Area with the European Union ) 500 million population
FTA with CIS countries : Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan , Uzbekistan, ) 250 million population
FTA with Turkey : 800 million population
CEFTA (Central European Free Trade agreement) Moldova, Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina
30 million populations.
GUAM (Organization for Democracy and Economic Development) Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova. 60 million populations
Moldova opened its first consulate in Lahore on 29th August, 2013. His Excellency Mian Mehmood ul Hassan a dynamic person was appointed its first consul general in Pakistan. He is a hardworking, committed and dedicated person. He also has deep knowledge of economy and politics. He is a graduate from Hailey College of Commerce Lahore and further got higher education from London School of Economics. He remained the chairman and CEO of Pakistan Guarantee Export Corporation Ltd from 2000-2016. He is alo a founding member of Wrold Economic Forum. He also served a Pak- Saudi Joint Commerce and Industry.
