Founder of Homeopathy Samuel Hahnemann Was A Muslim?

(Dr. Muhammad Gulzar_Homoeopathic Research Den, Lahore)

“ Certainly my prayers, my sacrifices, my life, my death dedicated to Allah Rabbul Al-Ameen ” says Al Quran,
Hahnemann says that in his life he has never sought any recognition, his works for the benefit of mankind are dedicated to the supreme creator ( vide-Life and Works of Hahnemann by Richard Raehl , page-355, part-one).

It is known to all that during June 1835 Hahnemann accompanied by his second wife Melanie D’Hervilly migrated to France and he never returned or re-visited his birth place or country Germany, the actual reason remained a mystery for centuries by courtesy of the narrow communal feelings of the west. It all started during his early student life, that he developed a skill in mastering in foreign languages, by 1777 he was able to speak and write German, Latin, Greek, English and Spanish , and a born scholar Hahnemann in one stage of his life learned Arabic to know the revolution in medicine during the golden era of Islam as a part of his quest for knowledge of Ancient history of Medicine , the quotes given in Arabic in his Lesser Writings : collected by R.E.Dudgeon , pages 571, 579 etc. proves his in depth knowledge in Arabic. Peter Morrel described how Hahnemann is indebted to Alchemy for his invention: Homeopathy, and thatperiod was the golden era of Alchemy in Arab. And Hahnemann a born researcher was in quest for panacea for health.

And that’s not all, the influence of the great philosopher Mohammed was so impressive to him that at one moment he read Kalema from the holy Quran and became Muslim by religious faith. As this news spread amongst his family and friends, they became much aggressive towards him, even it is believed he received life threats and ultimatum has been given to stop promotion of his holistic invention Homeopathy. Hence, Hahnemann distributed amongst his family members all his moveable and unmovable properties and migrated to France at the age of eighty years and two months. His first name Samuel is actually the name of an Israeli Prophet, which he adopted and used throughout after his migration to France, thereafter he never used his first name Christian Frederich. It is however difficult to ascertain whether he has been converted by the said Israeli Prophet or anybody else or he in his quest for truth adopted Islam himself.

There is a large collection of books, clothes, utensils, etc.used by Hahnemann kept at the Hahnemann Museum, Pauis Palace, Great Ormond Street, London, WBUC, U.K., amongst his used clothes , noticeable items are beautifully designed Jaynamaz ( piece of thick silk cloth used as carpet during Namaz (Prayer), Tasbih (garland) made of semi- precious stones, one Turkish cap, the Jayanamaz bears clear marks of continuous use, his collection of books include Al Quran.

The points which deserves attention are:

1. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in his writings never used the term Trinity which is the rock bed of Christianity , but used the term Creator .

2 In the book ‘Samuel Hahnemann- His Life and Works’ by Richard Raehl Vol-2, page-389 , there is a copy of a letter addressed by Hahnemann to one of his patients , it says, “ We feel then we are resting in the friendship of the Only One. Do you desire any other religion? There is none. Everything else is a miserable low human conception full of superstition a true destruction to humanity”. In another letter in the same page of the above book the following is written: “I acknowledge with sincere thankfulness the infinite mercy of the one great giver of all good”.

The Ultimate Proof

Page No. 245 of the Journal “ Allgem Anzeig Der Deutsehen ( Vol XII No.6 ) which is kept at the British Museum, Great Russell Street, WC1B 3DG reveals that due to the instructions in the Will of Hahnemann , Madam Melanie invited only muslims in the burial ceremony of the body of Hahnemann and to search for muslim people she waited for long 9 days after the death of Hahnemann. Hahnemann died on July 2, 1843 but buried on July 11, 1843 at the less known Cemetery of Mount Maratry.

P.S.: The British Museum and the Hahnemann Museum may be contacted direct for any verification, I have just put together some facts, for the community, after all we have every rights to know the TRUE biography of our Master.

I have tried to contact the present successor of Hahnemann family connected to one Homeopathy Institute of U.K.,for comments, but failed to trace the e mail address or telephone number.
