The World's Ugliest Animals

(Source: likes)

Not every animal is as cuddly as a giant panda or as extravagant as a peacock, but every animal has its role to play and every organism is important. As they say, beauty is only skin deep. Let's hope — for the sake of these unsightly animals — that the same can be said for ugliness.

 Chinese Crested

Not all of the world's ugliest animals are exotic. This frighteningly ugly creature is in fact a dog. It's a Chinese Crested to be exact. And it's so hideous that it's been officially dubbed The World's Ugliest Dog. No one's going to dispute that he came by it honestly.

Horseshoe Bat

The horseshoe bat has a face that only a mother could love. And event that's in doubt. Those flaps on his face are part of his nose. They work like ears to help him better echolocate his prey. They also make him one of the ugliest bats on the planet. An already ugly species.

Naked Mole Rat

These are hands down the ugliest rodents on planet earth. They're also some of the most bizarre. They live underground in colonies like insects. They' also live unfortunately long lives. Each mole rat lives up to 30 years. Part of their longevity is due to the fact that they're almost immune to cancer.

Aye Aye

This critter is just as weird as its name. The tarsier doesn't hold a candle to this ugly primate. If those fingers don't give you nightmares, those beedy little eyes will. There's no official list for the world's most horrifying animals. But as soon as it surfaces, this guy's a dead ringer for the number one spot.

Blobfish

Finally, the blobfish. If you're wondering why, it's time for an eye exam. This gooey wonder lives off the coast of Australia. Somehow, it feeds on crabs and lobsters. We have a feeling that it frightens them to death and then feeds on their corpse.
