achievement and showing that how far away the success. The most influencing and
rapidly growing media is social media over internet. We are facing a tide full
ocean of social contacts, news, information and thought through social media
over internet and GSM. Flow of information is most reachable, quick and reply
able now, there is no example like it in past ever. Being a part of the world,
we Pakistanis are active too in this type of medium. Some are managed and goal
oriented and others are like waves of a bank at sea view. Over 131 Million GSM
and more than 20 Million users are using internet in Pakistan. They are part of
social networking, the remarkable and appreciable figure by population ratio. We
are thankful to political parties, to provide them issues continuously without
any break. Now many political parties are armed with their own social media team
and activist to do and achieve their goals through social networking.
SMS, MMS, orkut, Yahoo/MSN type messengers, FACEBOOK, YouTube, LinkedIn,
Google+, Twitter, blogs and other tools related to social media is commonly
using right now. Around 2 Million users are using Twitter. Twitter is a
relatively new social media trend that is being adopted by the social media
elite, who include opinion makers and political activists, as an alternate
medium for news, updates and staying connected. These connected strata of
society cannot be ignored, as even in its early days in Pakistan, it has proven
to be a potent force/tool in the hands of journalists, media groups,
politicians, celebrities, brands, news makers, opinion leaders, bloggers and any
individual who is hoping to be heard. About 2% of Pakistan’s population is on
twitter as of 2011.

The total number of FB users in Pakistan is reaching 6892440 and grew by more
than 814140 in the last 6 months. 69% male and 31% female users, Pakistan
ranking over the world is 29 and 86% users are from age group of 16 to 34.

In Pakistan most of social networking activist are unmanaged, requires proper
guideline and code of conduct. Being a society it’s our collective
responsibility. We can make changes in our efforts and conduct over social media
with the help of social media. We need Facebook, Twitter based clubs, and groups
even institutions to preaching it and controlling it. People will feel privilege
and pride to join these groups. We need virtual/physical hands-on trainings,
seminars, events, tasks and research bodies. We need to do logical and reference
full debates on reasonable topics. We need to rise up genuine issues. We need to
promote a person, business, organization, city or anything in meaning full and
mannered way. We can change anything in our country even the bogus existing
system by will and movement of our people, and social media is a great platform
for it. We are at the doorstep of a revolution. Now, it’s our will either move
inside with an organized force or step back.
