“Views about FATA merge with KPK”

(Samiullah Khan Mohmand, Islamabad)

FATA (Federally Administrated Tribal Area), a part of Pakistan is under FCR (Federal Crime Regulation) Laws that were made by British colonial rulers in 1901.
From 1947 to 2016 (70 years) we were ruled by the same laws but now some Political parties want to merge FATA with KPK and remove FCR laws, they just want to merge FATA with KPK to have increased number of MPA's in Provincial Assembly and to earn people’s attention. After merging they will not develop these areas ever and we will be treated as South Punjab, whole funds will be transferred to Peshawar, Mardan etc. Even now our condition is better, then it will be after merger. We will also loose the quota seats for CSS, Medical and Engineering Exams. Malakaan (Tribal Elders) will lose their capability and will have no respect after merger.
Just we need is:
• Proper check on the development projects in FATA.
• Budget increase
• Education Reforms
• Construction and maintenance of Schools, Colleges, Universities and Hospitals.
• Amendment in Article 247, so that our MNA's can have some capability in National Assembly
• Quota increment in CSS,PMS and Medical/Engineering Universities
• Amount and number of Scholarships
• Security
We are not against merging with KPK but if KPK government and Federal government is ready to fulfill our needs, we will happily accept merging with KPK. We need extra budget and extra care as the wounds can’t be healed easily and immediately. We need more development projects as we were deprived of Schools, Colleges, Universities, and Hospitals from last 70 years and were ignored by Pakistani Government. If government will give extra attention us, we have the potential to recover soon and to compete with other regions in near future. As the population has increased in FATA, we also need more members in National Assembly and Senate to represent us, soon we will be in mainstream Insha’Allah.
All Pakistani’s should know that people of FATA are not rebels. (Baaghi)
