Writing English

(Bakhtiar Nasir, Lahore)

Writing English is quite or very difficult task for the majority of we ‘desi’ people. Despite the emergence of so many English medium schools (most of these are of number two category) the standard of know-how of this language is not at the expected level. A remarkable percentage of failed students (from middle to degree level examinations) belong to this language. But one has to face it, keeping in view the present and forthcoming circumstances.

The government has implemented its teaching in the educational institutions from the initial stage. This is an appropriate step and it can prove better results in the long run.

The aim of writing these lines is the occasion of reading some English articles in ‘Hamariweb’. There were certain mistakes in these articles. I don’t want to point out the names of the writers. My intention is not to hurt any body. I myself do not have any misunderstanding about my ‘so-called ability’. I remain cautious while writing or speaking English. However, I would like to suggest the writers to take help from anyone who knows better. They can also take advantage from Microsoft Word “spelling and grammar check”. I do this too.

‘Hamariweb’ does not restrict any body. Everyone has had the right to express. But if you don’t mind, ‘Hamariweb’, it is your duty to amend/edit the inappropriate words/spellings.

Last but not the least; being one of the users of this website, I want to see more and more accuracy in it. Thanks.
