Why Some Students Cheat? Cheating in the exam is the best way to pass for a student. Most students tried or cheated for a minimum of one time in their exams. Some students try to cheat by taking some notes they had already written, others will try to look at their friends’ papers to take the answers, and some others will whisper the question to their friends so they can give them the answers in return. Cheating on exams has many reasons ,such as being afraid to fail, showing their coolness, and reflecting their environment. First of all, the main reason that makes some students cheat is the fear of failure. Students will be afraid to fail and not to be in the same class of their peers. Any person would prefer success instead of failure ,so do students. They think that if they fail, they will have to face a lot of problems. For example, when students come to class on the day of an exam without studying, they will see that the only way to pass is cheating. The students fear the disappointment caused by failure ;above all, they don't like to face embarrassment . Second of all, the second reason that makes students cheat is to show their abilities. Students, at the teen age, think that cheating will make them cooler. Some students believe that by skipping classes, neglecting homework, cheating on the exams…they will be cooler ,and their potentials will be shown. For example, when students cheat on an exam ,and the teacher doesn't catch them , they will feel so happy as if they achieve one of their goals in life, which gives them self-confidence, and that’s a good reason that will make students cheat. Sometimes, they cheat in order to show off to their friends. Third of all, the last reason is the students' environment. The environment of the student will affect them. If they are surrounded by people that keep criticizing them , they will be prone to cheating . For example, if their parents complain about their low grades, their friends will laugh at them and perceive them from a lower view; these reasons will lead the students to cheating. Finally, all students who cheat, know that cheating is wrong, but some reasons will make them cheat. Knowing that there should not be any reason that justifies cheating , but nowadays exams have become more tests for cheating and use of foul means by the students than a test of their attainments and knowledge. It is a bed and shameful practice.Cheating is indeed a great insult for the youth of a free and islamic country.

The trend started at the end of Ayan regime schools and colleges were shutdown for about four months. When the exams started after it, students were given free hand to copy, use cheating students were allow to do what they pleased. They could not walk out. Then the students were pampered after 1972. They took over principles offices. They forced into V.C's room. They had full freedom in examination halls. Even teachers co-operated and helped the students. Politics entered in the educational institutions. Political figures also took part in the game.

Students became careless in attending the classes. Majority was absentee students. They were zero in knowledge. Most of them used ready -made notes easily available in the market. They tore them and freely used in the exams. The invagilators have no control on them. They are threatened and beaten. The government appears helpless. Money does everything.

Notes and ready-made answers be banned and strict punishment without fear and favour, can stop this undesirable practice.

Although pupil cheats in exams all over the world but in pakistan their are zero followers of rules and regulations whether it is in educational level, social level and political level. No matter what reason a person has for cheating,it is never acceptable. If students do their work, study, budget their time, and pay attention then there should be no reason to cheat. Whether its peeking at someone else's exam, storing answers in a calculator, collaborating with others, or not reporting another student cheating, the damage that it does to one's integrity remains the same.
