Exclusive : The Education System Of Pakistan

(Waqar Mahmood Khan, DUBAI -UAE)

“The whole educational and professional training system is a very elaborate filter, which just weeds out people who are too independent, and who think for themselves, and who don't know how to be submissive, and so on -- because they're dysfunctional to the institutions.” Noam Chomsky, the linguist, writes.

In his life,in this behalf, our great Quaid Muhammad Ali Jinnah laid great emphasis on acquiring education. In his address to the students, he once said:
“Education is a matter of life and death for our country”

The education system of any country must be an issue of critical concern on national scale which should depend on the interest of the total number of people who intend to acquire education in a peaceful and refreshing educational environment, under various circumstances.

Keeping in view, all such significant aspects pertaining to education in our minds, it really seems arduous sometimes even to a common man ,to apprehend as to why a large number of people in Pakistan are unable to understand that education is not just about learning by heart that 6 is the atomic number of carbon and 8 is that of oxygen in the subject of chemistry. Education is not just about memorizing the exercises of 5 chapters, 3 Ghazals and 4 poems of Faiz or Ghalib in the subject of Urdu. Education is not just about learning 10 theorems and two chapters each of algebra and trigonometry in the subject of mathematics.

The education system of Pakistan must be much more than “ ‘A’ for ‘Apple’, ‘Apple’ mean ‘Seib’, ‘B’ for ‘Bat’, ‘bat’ mean ‘balla’ , ‘C’ for ‘Cat’, ‘cat’ mean ‘billi’, ‘D’ for ‘duck’, ‘duck’ mean ‘battakh’, ‘E’ for ‘elephant’, ‘elephant’ mean ‘Haathi’, ‘F’ for ‘fish’, ‘fish’ mean ‘machlee’ .

Meanwhile, education mustn’t be defined in a narrower manner just because it is something that carries with it an extremely broader definition and recognition. We will have to be cognizant of the notion that education is largely about awareness and learning also. It must not be restricted to the course contents solely.

Education is something that makes us know what is good and bad for us. It’s something that makes it easy for us to understand who we are and what rights are we entitled to? It is something that makes us law-abiding citizens. Education is something that teaches us to respect our elders. Education is something that creates in us a sense of love for the suffering humanity. It makes us know what sort of behavior must we practice? In short, education is just like a key to success for us.

Indeed education is everything. Meanwhile, have we ever realized the fact as to what sort of abusive language is frequently being used by a large number of people at social media just to criticize others and defend themselves? Have we ever pondered on the element as to what extent have we forgotten all values of ethics and morality? Quite unfortunately, we are unable to recognize all those laws that are being breached by us including cyber laws? Is this what we learn from education?

I really feel like crying... I can’t perceive as to what is happening to us and what sort of negative course of transformation is being undergone by many people, nowadays. We have totally forgotten our forefathers and all good deeds they used to practice in their lives. How they were and how we people are? There is a hell of difference between us and them.

Come on; let’s understand what is good for us and what isn’t?

Pakistani education system needs to be broadened in accordance with the multidimensional requisites of the present day.

Last but not the least, for overwhelming all sort of technicalities associated with our educational sector, we are to do what we are supposed to do and is in the larger interest of our beloved homeland. Let’s consider education to be our top-most priority by investing maximum in it because; the attainment of proper and positive education is the need of the hour for each and every citizen of the developing nation Pakistan.
