Disputes Over Milad and Silence Over Valentine’s Day??

(Muhammad Affan Ahmed, Multan)

I'm sorry but this is not regarding Yes or No opinion about Milad, thus sectarianists can not take part in the discussion. Rather I have provided a contrast for comparison purposes:
What it is all about? it's something quite ambiguous that most of the people criticize the celebration of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal but not the 14th February. Why this day does not receive any Fatwa from the Ulama who were recently troubling over Milad! Dont take it as a religious dogma as my discussion does not currently support the issue "whether to celebrate Milad or not". But just compare both of these Days and decide which one is wicked! Ask your conscience! Then decide which one should be criticized and put under discussion FIRST. Ask yourself which one is harmful!

Why Valentine’s day is filthy? You can see the Fitna that spreads due to it. Last year a murder took place in Gujranwala on 14th February. A boy's sister was harassed by a group of boys in the presence of his brother himself. That dispute went even opprobrious that it led to the murder of her brother. It is just a beginning! If we don't control it, we shall see hundreds or thousands of such incidents on 14th february in the future. Please do care about our sacred sisters! After all, we are not Europeans. We have a different culture. That Valentine's Day is quite opposite to our culture and cannot be adjusted as a prevalent custom at any cost!

Moreover, Valentine's Day also contain some political aspects. In many countries, celebrating this day is banned because they do not support the act of St. Valentino; Illegal coupling of the soldiers. But we The Pakistanis, do not care about such facts. We don't give a damn care about who St. Valentino was, neither we want to know what he did. We just find this day attractive. Well That's pretty stupid indeed!

We are already diverged from Islam. If I start to cite some Ahadees or Quranic Verses on this issue, there shall be plenty of them for sure, but people will still not care about this issue because they would consider them a "trite" as they usually do. Generally we are not allowed to celebrate any of the festivals of Infidels. But we don't care. It is our inferiority complex that we consider the Europeans, their culture and their life, superior over us and our culture. Therefore we try to copy them at every stage hoping that we would also become superior doing all this.

Why Mullahs are speechless over 14th February is the problem. Most were organizing a campaign against Milad a few weeks ago. But now they have no Fatwas for 14th February. It becomes quite clear that they are interested in their Maslik only and their Tableegh is not of Islam but for a specific sector bearing an opinion. But there is no such sector of Islam which supports valentines day, there can be an agreement of all the sectors about this issue. But none of the sectors discusses it, despite of knowing its sensitiveness. It can bring a serious harm in our social life.

Of all, the most striking and sad reality is that our electronic media has left no stone unturned in promoting this day as a permanent custom. My Alllah! for God's sake! We are already suffering from many social problems. Our Media, instead of exterminating them, keeps on promoting them. Its like providing a monster an upbringing.
I'm pretty sad about all what's currently going on. If someone starts a campaign against Valentine's Day, he would definitely gain my support. Remember! taking such a a step does not require you to have a beard. It is more a social problem than a religious one. I would encourage such brave men to take such a step. I wish someday my country would gain freedom from all society's ills and Jahalat. (aameen)
