Taliban Peace Talks

When will we realize that the country is in a
state of war? It is a state of emergency. The Taliban have now started dictating
to us on television and through television anchors. Their strategy has changed.
They are now targeting personalities, individuals and media people directly.
This is to create fear and dread in order to achieve their desired results.It
was the first direct contact between the two sides since peace moves began last
month.
A Pakistani government team held direct talks with the Taliban after travelling
on 26 March, Wednesday to a secret location in the country's northwest, part of
a push by Prime Minister Nazi Shari to strike a peace deal to end an insurgency
that has killed thousands of people in recent years.
It is the first direct contact between the two sides since peace moves began
last month. A team of four Pakistani government representatives travelled to the
area near the Afghan border by helicopter
The talks are the result of an effort by the Pakistani Prime minister Nawaz
Sharif, to find a way to end the insurgency that has claimed thousands of lives.
The TTP also comprises complicated to reach many factions, which makes a deal.
Since taking office last May, Mr. Sharif has come under mounting pressure to
bring the violence under control, with many accusing his government of lacking a
strategy to deal with the militants, correspondents say.
Earlier this year he said he wanted to end the insurgency by peaceful means, but
has indicated that stronger military action will be used if talks fail.
