Travelling By Shuttle, A Jeopardous Experience

(Muhammad Ibtesam Mazahir, Karachi)

It is the moral duty of the educational institution to provide proper transport facility to their students; however this issue is constantly neglected by most of the institutions, similar situation is being faced by the students belonging to the University of Karachi.

Being a student of KU I had an opportunity to travel by KU Point bus, however I had never thought before that my very first experience would be so horrible that I would always be reluctant via traveling by it in future.

After being enrolled in to the one of the most prestigious institutions of Pakistan, On my very first day in KU I planned to reach to the University by Point bus in order to save time and money both, that’s why I moved to the bus stop and started waiting for the Point bus. After few minutes when the point bus arrived I was surprised to witness its un imaginable and un explainable condition since students were stuffed like animals in the bus and the situation was so much critical that I saw a bunch of students including female students hanging on the gates of the Bus but still the sharp eyes of conductor could see the hidden space inside and he was forcing students to move inside and settle. Some how I also gathered my full strength and tried to enter in but was not succeeded completely though I was just able to get a space of one feet and managed to hold the rod with my one arm . As the Point moved on cold breezes started touching by body (since it was the month of January). My whole body was trembling due to severe cold, On the other hand I was anxious enough how to hold the rod firmly due to the constant jerks, (since KU points are famous for its reckless driving and speed) and it was really difficult for me to balance myself in such circumstances. Half of my body was floating in air and I was pondering over that bad time when I decided to travel by it and praying for the safely ending of that fierce journey.

At last when the point bus reached to the university safely I thanked god for his mercifulness on me and from that very first day I never gained any courage again to enter in the shuttle because life is more important for me than anything else.
