Challenges for the New Government

Never late, yet so close, Pakistan is in the process of transaction. It has almost overseeing the darks a happy moments of a new change. I must say that this peaceful change is the result of two great changes in Pakistan, the independence of Judiciary and change in the behavior of Punjab Politics. The main actor of Punjab Politic, Nawaz Sharif learnt well from the eight precious years of his life spent in the exile. One may agree if I say that incident was a repetition of the major mistakes like killing of Liqat Ali Khan and Z. A Bhoto. Before the election in 2008 three major mistakes that Pakistan faced were, the exile of Sharif Brothers, the Assassination of Banazeer Bhoto and the By coat J I, PTI and Nationalists.

In the result such forces like MQM always blackmailed the feeble PPP Government that concentrated more on survival then solution of primary problems and at the other end continuous conflict with institutions made the ground even harder for smooth playing. Some of the studies claim it a great game of Zardari who indulged masses and media in useless cases just to put five years killing the time. He made such a situation in which he allowed none played well but only he and his friends.

Due to continuous conflicts, the main issues were badly neglected and got even worse than ever before. Institutions got weekend, economy went below the line, currency devalued and law and order turned zero. Government lost the rite in the major areas of the country.

To see the overall situation, a possible transaction is closed rather away few days and the new government will face many challenges.

Law and order is the main problem of Pakistan which got worse in the past few years and affected all walks of life and has given a tough time to economy particularly in mini Pakistan, Karachi. Suicide Bombing, Car Blasting and small crackers killing the people reminds Iraq. The operations held in different areas of KPK resulted in otherwise than positive results. Karachi remains close for three days in a weak and puts huge lose to economy. PPP Government never took it serious as Dr. Rehman Malik would blame TTP at one hand at most strange he proclaimed that “Girl Friends” are involved in Target Killings. In the result foreign investors stopped their investments and many local ones managed to shift either UAE, Singapore or Malaysia even Bangladesh. The BHATA PARCH “chit” made the small traders pays on daily bases where in case of refusal many lost their lives or got children kidnapped. We slowly turned into a dangerous nation. Not to speak of investors’ even sports teams quit coming to Pakistan.

Skilled Pakistani left and a matter of brain drain affected every part and department and even those who were either granted scholarships by government or sent for various training denied returning. The new government will have a serious challenge in order to bring peace which is necessary for progress.

Power shortage badly affected the economy and the daily life. At present Pakistan is facing the shortage of 5000 M W just to meet the daily matters. No doubt, Punjab is the biggest province and an industrial Zone of our country. This situation eventually affected the entire system in the region and had many laborers came on roads. The Rental Power projects were launched and did nothing to decrease load shedding but the price per unit got many time double than the earliest. If the coming days remained with the same situation our crippling economy even go dead.

Education in the previous years was badly neglected and was not considered a problem. The amount allocated for higher education was uselessly spent in BISP and most of the Higher Education Institutes are at the edge of closer. HEC got more than 50% cut in budget that directly affected the Universities across the country and specially the scholars who were studying abroad in HEC scholarships. The schools and colleges were got closed and increase in the number stopped rather decreased. Number of the School going children dropped and most of the schools got closed. However Khyber Pashtoonkawa, and Punjab governments took better steps as KPK government opened many new Universities and sub-campuses in various areas. Though TALIBAN played did much to destroy at the other end. Punjab government along other matters, made good steps for improvement of education starting Danish Schools, Laptop Schemes, Solar Lamps to students and Teachers Training Programmes. They also allocated good share of budget for education development programme. Sind and Balochistan took never care for this topic and education went at lowest in these two provinces. However they made good efforts to appoint their kith and kin’s at charming positions and making voters teachers. In Balochistan, Governor Balochistan made a request to all 58 ministers to allocate some amount for education from their funds but none among them could do so.

If the coming government does not work on war footings for the current problems, it would be harder to survive in the presence of strong opposition and media.
