The basic component of a nation’s success

(Shaheer Ullah Khan, Kharian)

Education is that fundamental ingredient of the process of a state’s success without which the whole recipe is useless. Talking is a plain way, without an educated populace the thought of a prospered country is no more than a fake imagination. Education doesn’t only impart one with the ability is a particular subject but as a whole generally provides, with the strength of awareness and to look beyond your own self.

To get the best fruits of education, it ought to be provided in the best way. Here is Pakistan we have a number of parallel education systems and this fact is quiet criticized, for it causes lack of uniformity in this crucial aspect of a society’s development. Critics often give the examples of foreign developed notices in this regard, rendering their education system to be perfect. This is not a valid way of making an effort to correct our own education system; for the education systems of other developed countries are also not flawless.

That day I happened to knew of a person who attended a conference in Germany regarding educations system in the country. Germany is one of the leading nations of the world in the field of development. At Germany there is a policy of student segregation. Most pupils from the primary level of education are separated and categorized as per their educational performance, for various professions. This discriminatory attitude hinders the path for many students who show improvement in education at a higher level. Judging one’s suitability for a particular job at just 5 years of education is quiet inappropriate. It obscures the right of students to choose their profession of choice. In Germany engineers, journalist etc are taught separately after primary level, at institutions called gymnasiums. Each gymnasium has emphasis on a particular field.

I gave the example of Germany to make it clear that it is not only Pakistan whose education system has flaws.

It is often said that our education system should be like the USA or UK. Why like USA or UK or some other country, why not our own way of imparting education? A way which is held by the developed nations, as a model and source of inspiration.

Following good characteristics of others is a good thing but when we have the potential of developing our own methods of establishing a system indigenously, then there is no requirement to look at others. Pakistan has one of the largest numbers of scientist, engineers, doctors, architects and educationists who are renowned as well. An educational system can be established which will not only firm the chances of Pakistan’s bright future but also form our country as an authority on the international front.

The above mentioned suggestion may seen to be an exaggerated of a youngster, but as a mater of fact all this is possible. There are 128 completely recognized universities who provide doctorates and 60 other universities who provide degrees through affiliations with foreign universities. If our resources are mobilized and utilized with fairness, the restructuring of schools, colleges and universities can be of vital help to Pakistan’s success.

Our education budget should be increased and the allocated money be used properly, InshaAllah Pakistan will appear as a leading country in the field of education.
