Suicide

Human life is an important trust from God, no one has right to kill himself. But unfortunately, in today's society people think that killing himself is a solution of all obstacles and disasters which are happening in the life. They tried to push away themselves from the problems of life and killed themselves. The ratio of suicide is increasing on daily basis, poverty, injustice in the society and hunger are the main causes of suicide.
It is an irreversible act with tragic consequences, has been a growing public health concern worldwide especially in third world or developing countries where people are facing poverty, injustice, hunger, mental health issues, and the stress of society. The increasing ratio of suicide is alarming for the world.
An estimated 703 000 people are dying every year by suicide globally which is alarming situation for world health organization. According to one of the reports that the ratio of suicide is increasing every year, states and other organization which are responsible for health are failed to stop this increasing ratio.
However, Muslim countries were not much affected from this disaster. Suicide is considered a cardinal sin in Islam. Muslims believe those who have committed suicide to be forbidden from entering Paradise. “And do not kill yourselves,” declares Quran (nor kill one another). “Allah is, without a doubt, most merciful to you” (Surah al-Nisa, 4:29). Indeed, human life is among the five essentials in Islam, people are responsible for protecting it. Allah Almighty considers taking one life equal to killing all humanity. “He who kills a soul unless it be (in legal punishment) for murder or causing disorder and corruption on the earth will be as if he had killed all mankind’ (al -Maedah 5:32). On the other hand, Islamic teachings stress the importance of patience and reliance on Allah during times of hardship and suffering. Muslims are encouraged to seek help, guidance, and support from Allah and the community during times of distress. Suicide is seen as a rejection of Allah's decree and a lack of trust in His wisdom and mercy.
But the advancement in technology, also affected from this disaster in recent times. As per WHO Global Health data base for the period from 2000 to 2019 Muslims countries are also among those where suicide ratio is increasing each year which is also alarming situation for Muslims. As per one survey the suicide rates in the Muslim-majority countries in the Sub-Saharan region recorded 10.02 per 100,000 population, followed by Central Asia (7.96), Southern Europe (5.83), Western Asia (4.87), North Africa (4.23), South Asia (2.82), and Southeastern Asia (2.58) in these years.
Similarly, like other Muslim countries Pakistan is also affected from the increasing ratio of suicide. The suicide rate in Pakistan has crossed eight per cent while one out of 200 people attempting suicide dies, according to the World Health Organization's country report. It is an alarming situation for Pakistan, people are killing themselves even they know the importance of life in Islam. Recently, one of Pakistan’s business tycoons killed himself which raises thousand of question on our society, a man who has everything in his life still suffering from mental health issues.
To conclude, if you or someone you know is in immediate danger of harming themselves, please help them mentally or financially because a human’s life much more important than time. In addition, suicide is a sensitive and complex issue, and it's vital to approach it with empathy and understanding. If someone we know is struggling with thoughts of suicide or mental health issues than it is our responsibility to help him/her. Because if we save one human’s life that means we have saved all humankind.
