THE 1965 WAR A SUCCESS OR BLUNDER

After the creation of Pakistan in 1947 the founder of nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah established relations with USA, the newly born super power of the world of those times. This decision has been proved right as just two super powers emerged USA and Soviet Union after the defeat of Japanese and Germans in World War II through the hands of allied forces mainly USA, Britain, Soviet Union, France and China. If we see technology wise the American technology proved flawless and trustable with high quality military weapons and aircrafts. If we see relation wise Americans has helped us lot economically and politically in that period of time to gain strength in the Asian subcontinent against communist power Soviet Union. That’s why we were able to liberate one third Kashmir valley with help of mujahedeen’s and army in 1948. In the mean the Quaid left the world on 11 September 1948 that is still mystery, a death or murder. Any how Quaid made this newly born Islamic state in the subcontinent so strong that it can be run easily and it can make relations with Islamic and international world. It means conspiracy forces were running against Pakistan from its period of creation. Mean while Soviet Union detonated their first atomic bomb on 29 august 1949 and realized to the Americans that they are not alone in nuclear technology. Indians developed strong relations with the communist rule to establish himself as technology wise and politically. The race for the nuclear weapons and missiles started between world super powers. The Russians dominated that period of time as they were very much ahead from the Americans in missile and space technology in the 1950s. In this demanding period of time, search for atomic bomb in Pakistan also started with establishment of Pakistan atomic energy commission in March 1956. As field Marshall Ayub Khan sworn to power in 1958, the relations with USA became stronger and he made lot of progress in military and economic sections. From 1959 the tensions between Indians and growing supper power of the region and world Chinese were raising as Indians claimed some part of Himalayan Tibet region across McMahon line making some posts there, as they always have in their mind the theory of expansion. These conflicts turned into a bloody war of army on 20 October 1962, but it decided very soon by excellent execution of simultaneous offensive attacks of Chinese army in Ladakh and McMahon line region. The result was decisive Chinese military victory and they moved to the pre war boundaries.

Pakistanis were quiet in all that time with Indians not on its western boarders but also on the eastern boarders. Meanwhile the Indians were allowed freely to move across East Pakistan through railway, road and river communications between state of Bengal, Assam and Tripura till September 1965. The drain of wealth from East Pakistan was enormous and uncontrolled. Lot of operations conducted in 1952, 1956, and 1957 by Pakistani army to control the smuggling of large quantities of jute rice, gold and silver. According to an estimate 750-800 million rupees of foreign exchange was drained by Hindus annually. The 80 percent of wealth and business was in the hands of Zionist Hindus and 95 percent of schools and colleges were privately run and financed by Hindu teachers and they were sowing the seeds of hatreds in Bengalis against West Pakistanis. One thing should be noted here that basis of Asian subcontinent single largest party of Muslims were laid by Bengali Nawabs in 1906 that lead finally to the creation of Pakistan. In these circumstances Pakistanis planned an operation Gibraltar in august 1965 under the leadership of Ayub khan. The main aim of operation was to infiltrate mujahedeen and Para military forces in Indian controlled Jammu and Kashmir to activate an insurgency with the idea that Kashmiri people will also join and we will be able to liberate Kashmir. This plan looked very good on paper but actually when the forces launched attack inside Indian Kashmir, the Kashmir’s did not joined the force and they told the Indian army that these are Pakistanis army so the operation Gibraltar failed disastrously. The Indian army replied and holds the attack in Kashmir and launched an offensive attack on West Pakistan boarders. This was not the considered option in the plan that it may be happen. The Pakistani army defended our western boarders bravely but had severe casualties as they were defending more than four times bigger country with much higher GDP and having high technology weapons. Pakistan captured uncultivated desert land of around 777 km square and Indians captured cultivated land of around 1800 km square. It mean Pakistan lost 1800 km square cultivated lands and precious lives without achieving objective in an unnecessary war that led Pakistan back to almost one decade. Remember we launched same plan in may 1999 Kargil war and Indians also threatened this time our Easters boarders and we had to retrieve with enormous loss of lives without achieving objective, thanks to mighty Allah this not led to an open war even we don’t left any stone unturned.

As above mentioned, Indian conspiracies in the East Pakistan continued to flourish and Indians Replied in 1971 when they got extremely favorable conditions as no political party gained single majority in east or West Pakistan to make a government. Even in that circumstances if reconciliation happen and West Pakistan leading party if showed some signs of coalition government in Pakistan then results might be different now. But unfortunately Western front leading party was seeing their own government and having no room for their largest party in East Pakistan, lead to a political crisis in the country that ultimately supported by Indians and broke the country in two pieces Bangladesh and Pakistan.
