Hurt of Body is Temporary & Hurt of Soul is Everlasting

By Mohammad Rafique Etesame
All-Mighty Allah Says in the holy Qur’an, “And that man hath only that for which he makes effort, And that his effort will be seen, And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; And that thy Lord, He is the goal; (An-Najm: 42)

These verses reveal that unless a man struggles hard for anything, he cannot get it. Be it is his purpose of life or anything else, struggle is must for it. And if a faithful believer wants to become safe from Hellfire and to be entered the Paradise, then this also require struggle.

Man is created from body and soul, but body is mortal and soul is immortal and everlasting. And the other thing is that as the body is mortal its hurt and pain is also mortal and temporary, likewise the soul is everlasting, so it’s hurt and pain is also everlasting and constant.

For example, if someone falls ill or faces an accident and becomes injured, then he may recover himself and may be healthy by using some medicines and cure. But if human soul is in the state of pain and trouble at the Day of Judgment, she cannot make herself pure from sins by using any remedy and will get the same reward of her actions what she did in this world.

The question is: what is the real success and real pain and trouble of human soul? So the holy Qur’an reveals about it, “And a soul and Him Who perfected it, And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow. And he is indeed failure who stunteth it” (Ash-Shams : 9).

Also reveals,”Wosoever does right, whether male or female, and is a believer, him verily We shall quicken with good life, and We shall pay them a recompense in proportion to the best of what they used to do.”(An-Nahal :97)

This means the souls who follow the commands of Allah Almighty and make them pure from shirk, infidelity, hypocrisy etc, are the successful souls.

On the other hand the souls who committed shirk (ascribing partners to Allah Almighty) and are disbelievers, they cannot compensate for their bad deeds into good at the Day of resurrection, this is the real hurt and loss of the souls.

As for these souls the holy Qur’an reveals,” The guilty will be known by their marks, and will be taken by the forelocks and the feat. Which is it, of the favours of your Lord that ye deny? This is Hell which they go circling round between it and fierce, boiling water” (The Beneficient: 45).

Now I come to the point, if a faithful believer wants to be successful and to get rid of the torment of the Day of Judgment, then he should not think about his physical discomfort in order to act upon the teachings of Islam. Because when he goes to establish Salat, to keep the fasting of Ramadan, paying the poor-due going for offering Hajj or other deeds, then there may be some inconvenience, but these good deeds will lead him/her soul to the eternal and a luxury life in the Paradise.

May Allah All-Mighty give us power to follow all His commands, Ameen.
