The Iqra University is a private sector research university located in Defence View of Karachi, Pakistan. The University possesses additional campuses in Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar as well. Established as Asian Management Institute (AMI) in 1998 by a group of Karachi-based industrialists, the University was renamed as Iqra University (IU) after granted the status of University in 2002 by the HEC. The university offers diverse degree programs for undergraduate, post-graduate, and PhD programmes in engineering, film studies, management sciences, administration, social and natural sciences disciplines. The owner and Chancellor of Iqra University is Pakistani businessman Mr. Hunaid Lakhani, Vice Chancellor is Dr. U. A. G. Isani, Retired Civil Servant Government of Pakistan and Registrar is Dr. Syed Akif Hassan.
IU is one of the noteworthy private institutions currently ranked in among top-ten institution for "business category" by the HEC in 2012. In addition, the university is renowned as being the largest employer of doctorate holders as faculty. Iqra University has a largest research publication output than any other higher learning institution of the country. |
