HSC exams beginning next week

All preparations have been completed for the Intermediate Part-I and Part-II (Class XI and XII) science, computer science and home economics groups annual examinations-2009.

The exams are scheduled to begin from Tuesday (April 28) under the aegis of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).

The BIEK has also finalised arrangements for the Intermediate Part-I and Part-II (Class XI and XII) commerce group regular and private candidate annual-examinations-2009, which are starting from Saturday (May 2).

According to the BIEK officials, science (pre-engineering and pre-medical), science general (computer) and home economics groups’ examinations would be held in the morning shift from 9.30am to 12.30pm, while the commerce group’s examinations would be held in the evening shift from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

However, the timings of the commerce group papers falling on Fridays would be from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Over 200,000 students would appear in the examinations for which the BIEK had set up 225 examination centres at both the government and private colleges, the board officials said, adding that in all, 99 vigilance teams (50 for science and 49 for commerce) groups examinations had been formed.

The BIEK officials vowed that the examinations would be held in a transparent and peaceful manner.

They said that they had already requested the authorities concerned to enforce Section 144 in and around all the examination centres, banning the entry of unauthorised people in the examination centres.

The sources said that the BIEK had also requested the authorities concerned to ensure that all shops doing photo-stat business in the vicinity of examination centres must remain closed during the examination timings so that “unscrupulous elements” who often try to make photo-stat copies of question papers and answers to the questions in the papers which could be supplied to the candidates sitting in the exams, could not succeed.

They said that science group examinations would conclude on May 23, home economics group examinations would end on May 25, while the last paper of science (general) and commerce groups’ exams would be held on May 26.

Admit cards

The BIEK officials said that colleges had started issuing admit cards to their students who would appear in their Intermediate (Class XI and X) science (pre-engineering and pre-medical), computer science and home economics groups’ annual examinations.
