Josh Malihabadi Poetry - The fierce composer known as Josh Malihabadi developed a course of untraveled pavement in poetry. The “Shabbir Hasan Khan “started writing at early age and was recognized as “Shayar-e-Inqilaab” the poet of revolution. He had a fierce penning style, eloquence and vigor in his Qalam for which the passionate poet was called “Josh Malihabadi” by a mass and even now, only in between stacks of information do we find his real name. Best notable among Urdu poets for his acute socio-political concerns on one hand and romantic preoccupations on the other, Josh Malihabadi poetry marvels the reader. Says he,
āzādi-e-fikr o dars-e-hikmat hai gunāh
daanā ke liye nahīñ koī jā-e-panāh
is azhdar-e-tahzīb ke farzand-e-rashīd
ye maz.hab o qānūn ayāzan-billāh
Josh Malihabadi has written over 100,000 beautiful couplets and more than 1,000 rubaiyat in his lifetime. Josh Malihabadi’s Qalam has a force; his autobiography “Yaadon ki Barat” is considered one of the best so far in Urdu which is written in frank and candid manner.
