Iftikhar Hussain Arif generally known as Iftikhar Arif was born on 21 March 1943 in Indian city Lucknow. He studied early education from different institutions such as Madressa-i-Nizamia, Farangi Mahal, and Government Jubilee College; he obtained MA degree from University of Lucknow. He came to Pakistan in 1965. Iftikhar Arif is one of the famous Urdu poet & scholar of Pakistan. His style of poetry is romantic, he wrote many book as his three famous collections are, Mehr-i-Doneem, Harf-i-Baryab and Jahan-e-Maloom have been issued in many editions. He has been rewarded by different awards Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance, Baba-e-Urdu Maulvi Abdul Haq Award, Naqoosh Award, Faiz International Award for Poetry in Aalami Urdu Conference as well as he get number of other prestigious National and International literary awards.
