US State Department requests consular access to Khadija Shah

During the weekly press briefing, the spokesperson of the US State Department said that the Pakistani authorities have been asked to give consular access to Khadija Shah, she has dual citizenship, and is in direct contact with the Pakistani authorities in this regard.

A State Department spokesperson said that if an American citizen is arrested, they are ready to help them, and expect Pakistani authorities to guarantee a fair hearing.

The spokesperson said that they have been asking foreign governments to put in place procedures for the arrest of American citizens.
