| | Usman, Diploma of Associate Engineering is a technical level course designed for students who want to pursue a career in engineering. The eligiblity for DAE is SSC (passed) but there are some limitations as well. Having done DAE in a particular field will make you an associate engineer which is equivalent to Intermediate pre-engineering but the options for career advancement in DAE are very very limited. Having done DAE, the most you will be able to do is B.Tech but if you would have done intermediate pre-engineering you could have chose a career in a number of fields. On the other hand it is commonly observed that students done intermediate pre-engineering are of higher calibre than DAE students. This is why intermediate is generally rated more than the DAE.
