Software Engineering is not a piece of cake first of all. You should have at least some basic knowledge about computer if not so than you should aware yourself for that. Math evolves in every field of science and surely it helps you in software engineering for the first two years. But being a software engineer required some extra skills and knowledge about technology or the technology you are interested in. So before you gonna attend your first class at university do polish your basic skills about Computer.
