I have done D.A.E in IT and now I am doing BS-IT (4yrs) recently I discontinued my B-Tech Telecom (pass)because a friend of mine told me B-tech don't have any value. My question is that my profession is in IT field so should I continue B-Tech or keep doing BS-IT and one more thing is there any possibility of M.S after B-Tech(pass).

Dear Wahaj, A.O.A

Your friend is right that nowadays B-Tech has no market value but in my opinion you should continue your B-Tech and then do BS-IT.

Dear Wahaj

If you have set your goals regarding IT field then you should go on for BS IT and forget the B.Tech.

I do not fully agree that B.Tech degree has lost its market value. Infact in Pakistan, due to the Pakistan Engineering Council, the B.Tech degree is avoided by the Government sector but in private sector it is fully recognized upto its desired level.

The B.Tech degree is fully professional degree in the field of Technology and hopefully the PEC will register it as Engineering Technologist or Engineer whereas the Higher Education Commission has already equate the B.Tech Hons with the B.Sc Engineering degree.

Admission in MS is possible only after B.Tech Hons degree in the specified Universities in Pakistan but not all. Whereas our B.Tech Pass and Hons degrees are well recognized at Middle East and Europeon and American Market for job and higher studies.

For further information and updates, please be a member of the Pakistan B.Tech Engineers Community (PBEC) free of cost by send membership request to [email protected]

Good Luck.
