FO summons Kyrgyzstan Embassy governor for demarche
The government summoned the Kyrgyz Embassy chargé d'affaires to the Foreign Office for a démarche and handed over a formal protest letter.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Chargé d'affaires Melis Moldaliev was given a démarche by FO Director General (ECO & CARs) Aizaz Khan. He was conveyed Pakistan's deep concerns about the reports of violence against Pakistani students studying in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The chargé d'affaires was told that the Kyrgyz government should take all possible measures to ensure the safety and security of Pakistani students and citizens residing in the country.

"The government of Pakistan takes the matter of the safety and security of its nationals around the world very seriously and will take all necessary measures to ensure their wellbeing,” the spokesperson emphasized.

The statement further said that in response to the incident, the Kyrgyz authorities have expressed regret at the incidents of violence against foreign nationals, including Pakistanis, in Bishkek on Friday night. "They have also pledged to hold an inquiry and punish the perpetrators," the FO said.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Kyrgyzstan has been proactive in addressing the situation. It has opened emergency helplines and is responding to queries of students and their families. The spokesperson confirmed that the embassy has been responding to inquiries and providing necessary support.

Pakistani Ambassador in the Kyrgyz Republic Hasan Ali Zaigham is in close contact with senior local officials to ensure the safety of Pakistani nationals. According to the Kyrgyz Health Ministry, four Pakistanis were provided first aid and discharged, while one was under treatment for a jaw injury, the statement said.

On the other hand, the Foreign Office also posted on X that on the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Ministry had activated its Crisis Management Unit.
