Society and culture for women.

(Huma Tariq, Lahore)

We are so occupied by this media these days. It’s capturing our minds and setting them on stupid things like inqalab, president, politicians, army, martial law and crap. It makes us blind. We can’t see past them. Is it reality? Are you sure if it is? Science says “Everyday, you have about 70,000 thoughts.” What are they really? Did you even for a second thought about society? Or people living in it? How girls are surviving in your country? Do you think media shows you everything? Think past this media or yourself please. Think about the next generation. Teach your sons how to look at a girl, teach them how to respect them. Spend a day as a girl. You’ll know how it feels when you’re outside and all the eyes are on you. How you have to keep your head down and eyes down while walking down the streets.

People say it’s our fault that we get raped. How is it exactly out fault? We don’t ask them to look at us. We don’t walk outside all naked. Even the girls wearing hijab or burkha are being molested outside. We don’t teach our sons but our daughters to stay quite if something happens. Let it happen. Even mothers teach their daughters to never say a word to those who stare at you or molest you. Stay quite. Don’t go outside. Spend your whole freaking life in a freaking cage. Don’t look at them, look down. Don’t say a word or turn when you hear people making sick comments about your body or your clothing.

What do you want these women for except for your thirst?

I don’t know about others girls but I’m not going to stay quite ever. When it comes to being raped or molested it’s not just about other girls it’s about me too. I’m a human being and I deserve to live my life as I want to. I won’t bear anyone making comments or staring at me like I got dressed or ready for them to look at me with such hungry eyes. I don’t want the next generation to go through the same thing. We are asked to just stay quite because they might pour some kind of acid on us or burn us. . I’ll stand for our rights. I’ll speak if someone is wrong, hell I’ll shout at them if they call us wrong. It’s 2014. Do something about it.

What do you think happens when a girl is raped? She probably dies. Why? Because men these days are not human, they are even worst then animals. No woman wants to be raped. It’s not something that one is going to enjoy ever. Girls are raped in India/Pakistan every day. We don’t come home and tell our brother or father that a boy touched us or made sexual comments about us. We don’t tell them this because they might stop us from going outside. They might stop us from going to college or schools. But they will never ever do something about it. They will never teach their daughters how to defend themselves.

It’s out right to be treated as a girl. It’s our right to be treated the way boys are treated. Please spread awareness. You don’t know if your sisters, mothers or daughters are going through this. Do not stop them. Stop the evil.
