Punjmail Daal recipe by Chef Zakir. This delightful Main Course recipe of Punjmail Daal can be ready in approximately 30 Minutes and good to serve around 2-4 People. Follow all the steps recommended by Chef to get a perfect dish.

INGREDIENTS

Gram lentils50 gm
Yellow lentils50 gm
Red lentils50 gm
White lentils50 gm
Whole black lentils50 gm
Onion2
Green chilies4 – 6
Turmeric powder1 tbsp
Crushed red pepper1 tbsp
Mix whole spicesas required
Saltto taste
Ghee½ cup
Ingredients for Tarka
Garlic8 – 10 cloves
Curry leavesfew
Cumin seeds1 tbsp

METHOD

Soak all the lentils, heat ½ cup ghee in a wok, add in 2 chopped onion and sauté till translucent.
Add in soaked lentils with 4 – 6 green chilies, 1 tbsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp crushed red pepper, mix whole spices as required and salt to taste. Mix well.
Add a little water and cook covered on low flame for 20 – 25 minutes.
Cook till all the lentils are tender.
Make tarka by heating a little oil in a wok, add in 8 – 10 cloves of garlic, 1 tbsp cumin seeds and few curry leaves.
Pour tarka mixture on top of cooked lentils. Dish it out and serve hot with steamed rice.
