Ingredients
  1. 1) Prawns(deveined) 18-20 medium
  2. 2) Salt to taste
  3. 3) Oil 3 tablespoons
  4. 4) Coriander seeds 2 teaspoons
  5. 5) Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  6. 6) Black peppercorns 8-10
  7. 7) Fenugreek seeds 1/4 teaspoon
  8. 8) Whole dry red chillies 4
  9. 9) Coconut, scraped 1 cup
  10. 10) Onions, chopped 2 medium
  11. 11) Garlic 5 cloves
  12. 12) Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  13. 13) Tamarind pulp 1 1/2 tablespoons
Method
  • 1. Wash the prawns thoroughly under running water.
  • 2. Drain & pat dry.
  • 3. Sprinkle with salt and set aside for 1 hour,preferably in the refrigerator.
  • 4. Grind with coconut, half the onion, garlic, turmeric powder and tamarind pulp to a smooth paste.
  • 5. Heat oil in a pan and fried remaining chopped onions till light brown.
  • 6. Add the masala paste and sauté for two to three minutes.
  • 7. Add two cups of water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  • 8. Add prawns and adjust seasoning.
  • 9. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • 10. Serve hot.
