Ingredients
  1. 300 gms fresh green peas
  2. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  3. a pinch of asafoetida; salt to taste
  4. 10 raisins
  5. juice of a lemon
  6. 4 tblsps coriander leaves (chopped)
  7. 2 tsps sesame seeds (pounded)
  8. 2 tsps sugar
  9. 4 tblsps fresh coconut (grated)
  10. 4 green chillies (ground)
  11. a piece of ginger;1/2 kg potatoes
  12. 2 tblsps arrowroot
Method
  • Shell the peas and grind coarsely. Put 1 1/2 tablespoons oil in a vessel and place on fire. Throw in the mustard seeds, and when they begin to crackle, add asafoetida and peas. Stir well. When done, remove from fire and, when cool, add all the ingredients from salt to ginger.
  • Boil, peel and mash the potatoes, and add arrowroot and a little salt. Form into lemon-sized balls, hollow out and fill in with the pea mixture.
  • Deep fry on a medium fire till golden brown. Serve hot with coriander chutney.
