Ingredients
  1. 1 bamboo shoot
  2. 4 oz. gram flour
  3. 1/4 pint (U.S. cup) water
  4. ½ teaspoon chilli powder salt to taste
  5. Oil for deep frying
Method
  • Clean, wash and slice the bamboo shoot finely. Sieve gram flour into a bowl and mix with the water to make a thickish batter. Add chilli powder and salt. Mix well and add the bamboo shoot. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and drop teaspoonsful of the battei into the hot oil. Fry until golden. Drain and serve hot.
