The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has announced that the Ramadan moon is not sighted in Qatar. Therefore, the first day of fasting will be observed on 23 March 2023.
The Crescent Sighting Committee of Qatar met on 21 March, Tuesday evening to see the Ramadan moon. The sighting was not confirmed by any credible witnesses from different parts of the country.
The government has also announced a number of measures to ensure safe and peaceful Ramadan. Muslims across Qatar are preparing for the month of Ramadan, which is a time of spiritual reflection and devotion.
In Qatar, moon sighting is carried out by a committee of religious scholars and astronomers in each major city, including Doha, Dukhan, Al Wajba, and Al Muntazah. The committee gathers at a specific location to observe the moon and verify its sighting with the naked eye.
