The United States and Germany have ruled out providing fighter jets to Ukraine despite repeated requests from Kyiv to provide the planes for air support.

Talking to media in Washington, US President Joe Biden said instead of providing f-16 jets to Ukraine, the US is focusing on providing military support in other areas.

In an interview, Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz said it seemed frivolous to discuss sending fighter jets to Ukraine when they had just provided the Leopard 2s tanks.

Ukraine, which relies on 30-years old Soviet-era fighter jets, has repeatedly requested the West for the planes to take control of its airspace in its war with Russia.
