Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said, country had experienced the wettest season of July in 62 years, with rainfall that was 181% over average. The country has not had such a massive rainstorm since 1961, when it received 177.6mm of rain, compared to its typical 63.1mm, according to the Met Office’s monthly climate report.
According to the report, July’s monthly rainfall was 26% higher than the season’s average. In comparison to the average rainfall for the month, Balochistan received over 450 percent, Sindh over 308 percent, Punjab over 116 percent, Gilgit-Baltistan over 32 percent, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) over 30 percent higher rains.
Massive flash floods brought on by the torrential rains devastated Balochistan, Sindh, and southwest Punjab, killing many people and destroying a great deal of property. Similar to this, Badin (Sindh), which recorded 219.0mm of rain on July 25, was the wettest site in the nation, while PAF Masroor, Karachi, had the wettest monthly total of 606 mm.
