After a pandemic, New Zealand’s borders are now fully open

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic closed them in March 2020, New Zealand’s borders fully reopened to tourists from around the world on Monday. For New Zealanders, the borders began to reopen in February, and restrictions have gradually loosened.

Last night, the process of reopening the borders came to a finish, and people who require visas and those with student visas can now also travel back to New Zealand. Now, cruise liners and foreign yachts used for enjoyment are permitted to dock in New Zealand. The majority of travelers still need two COVID tests after arriving in New Zealand and must have a COVID vaccination. There are no quarantine regulations, though.

The final phased opening of the borders had been a huge event, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Monday during an address at the China Business Summit in Auckland. Since February, we have been managing a highly active global pandemic while keeping our citizens safe. It has been a phased and cautious procedure on our part.

Education providers are expecting that the reopening of the borders would once again enhance schools and colleges across the nation. International students were a substantial contributor to New Zealand’s economy. The reintroduction of cruise ships, according to Stuart Nash, minister of tourism for New Zealand, will also help local businesses.

“The warmer months of October through April are when most cruise visitors arrive, and summer is generally our busiest travel season. This indicates that the industry will move forward at full speed “Nash stated.
