Fake degree case: Court handed over 7 year imprisonment to Axact’s CEO [SuchTV] 05 Jul, 2018

The verdict was announced by District and Session judge Mumtaz Hussain here in Islamabad today.The court also directed all accused to pay Rs5 lac fine apiece.Shaoib Shaikh’s wife Aysha Shoaib among three accused have been acquitted in the case.The illegal business run by Axact across the globe was unveiled in an article published by American news organisation, The New York Times, on May 18, 2015.District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Mumtaz Hussain announced the judgment on Thursday, saying that all sentences will be implemented consecutively. The accused, however, were acquitted of the money laundering and electronic crime charges.On June 20, an additional district and sessions judge in North Karachi indicted Shoaib and others in a multi-million money laundering case.The hearing of the money laundering case resumed in the lower court and the accused pleaded not guilty. The court also summoned witnesses on the next hearing.
