China's Shandong and Henan detect new zoonotic virus, 35 people reportedly infected

A new type of animal-derived Henipavirus named Langya has been detected in China's Shandong and Henan provinces.

According to the Chinese state media, so far the virus has infected 35 people causing symptoms like fever, fatigue, cough, appetite loss, nausea, vomiting etc.

As per reports, the virus may also cause kidney and liver failure and is likely transmitted from animals to humans.
