Bilawal for quick response to rain victims [DailyTimes] 06 Apr, 2016

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and properties in torrential rains followed by heavy floods, lightning, and land sliding in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Gilgit and parts of Azad Kashmir.
He asked the rulers to expedite the rescue and relief operations. According to media reports, death toll from the recent torrential rains coupled with high floods and landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA has reportedly crossed 140. Around two dozen people continue to be trapped under tonnes of clay in Kohistan District where an avalanche hit a village on Monday burying more than three dozen people alive.
In a press statement, the PPP chairman said that devastation by these torrential rains together with the ensuing flooding, lightning and land-sliding require urgent and emergent rescue and relief measures. Federal and provincial governments and local authorities should activate their rescue facilities and save those still lying under the landslides and marooned in the midst of flooded areas, he stressed.More in NationalView allOperation launched in southern PunjabApril 07, 2016ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Days after the deadliest attack in Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, the ...
