The Lahore Board of Intermediate
and Secondary Education (BISE) announced on Wednesday the result of
secondary school certificate (matriculation) annual examination, 2016,
with a pass percentage of 71.4.
According to the result, 214,711 candidates appeared in the
matriculation 2016 exams of them 153,478 passed with a percentage of
71.48.
In science group’s 102,780 candidates, 131,161 passed and the pass
percentage is 78.3.
In humanities group, of 83,550 candidates, 50,698 remained successful
with 60.68 pass percentage.
Punjab Schools Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad formally announced
the result at a ceremony at the Alhamra Hall. He gave away gold,
silver
and browns medals with Rs20,000, Rs15,000 and Rs10,000 to first, second
and third position holders.
The matriculation supplementary examination, 2016 will commence on
September 10.
Overall topper Rana Omar Farhan of Divisional Public School (DPS) and
Inter College, Model Town, got 1,087 marks. He was also given a laptop.
Muhammad Shayan Waheed of the DPS, Model Town got second position with
1,086 marks and Syed Momin Ali and Hussnain Mushtaq of the DPS, Model
Town, shared the overall third position by obtaining 1,085 marks. These
students also got first, second and third positions in the science group
among boys.
In the category of the science group (girls), Semil Saleem of the Punjab
Girls High School, Johar Town, got the first position by securing 1,083
marks; Rimsha Tahir of the DPS Model Town, Lahore, secured 1,082 marks
and got second position, while Sajal Tariq, of the Jinnah Grammar
Secondary School, Ghulam Hussain Park, Shad Bagh, secured the third
position with 1,079 marks.
In the humanities group (boys), Sabir Ali from the Pakistan Model High
School, Raiwind Road, Kasur, stood first with 1,034 marks, Muhammad
Shahzad, of the Allied School Al-Miraj Campus for Boys, Shadman,
obtained the second position by securing 1,006 marks and Muhammad Usman
of Allam Iqbal Public High School, Kasur, and Allah Ditta, of the
Government Public High School Nain Sukh, shared the third position by
securing 994 marks.
In the humanities group among girls, Iqra from the Allama Iqbal High
School for Girls, Raiwind Road, Kasur, got the first position by
securing 1,067 marks; Ayesha Khalid of the Society Public Girls High
School, Mughalpura, got the second position by securing 1,055 marks
while Areej Waseem, of the Farooqi Girls High School, Karim Park, stood
second with 1,055 marks and Uzma Waris, a private candidate, secured the
third position with 1,045 marks.
Talking to reporters Uzma Waris, a private candidate who secured the
third position with 1,045 marks, said her mother was a domestic help as
her father was suffering from liver disease. She requested the education
minister to ensure free treatment of her father.
Allah Ditta, of the Government Public High School, Nain Sukh, who got
the third position by securing 994 marks said that his father was a
vendor and he dedicated his success to his father for he worked
throughout the day to save money for his education. His father urged the
chief minister to bear the education expenses of his son.
