LAHORE - Pakistan’s emerging female tennis star Haniya Minhas of Bard Foundation continued her good show and won the 14&U Istiqlol Cup Asian Tennis Federation Tournament in Dushanbe, Tajikistan by outclassing 3rd seed Anisa Yakhyaeva of Tajikistan 6-0, 6-1 in the final. 

According to PTF spokesman, top-seeded Haniya was in great form again throughout the tournament and won all her matches comfortably without losing a set. Haniya then teamed up with Sumaya Tukhtaeva of Tajikistan to win the doubles event as well, as the duo beat the pair of SaiyoraRajabalieva and Anisa Yakhyaeva of Tajikistan 7-5, 6-4 in a hard-fought final. 

Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Salim Saifullah Khan and the executive committee of the federation extended their felicitation to Haniya and her parents and said: “It is a great honour for Pakistan and the Pakistan Tennis Federation that she has managed to win back-to-back titles on the ATF 14&U Circuit. With this title victories, Haniya moved up to number 18 in the ATF 14&U rankings.

“Haniya’s triumph will prove to be an inspiration for other players, especially young girls, and serve as a motivating factor for the upcoming players. May Allah bless her with more victories, so that she brings more laurels to Pakistan and Pakistan tennis,” they added.
