  1. 1) Red lentil (split Egyptian) 1 cup
  2. 2) Garlic and ginger paste 1 tsp
  3. 3) Red chilies powder 1 tsp
  4. 4) Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  5. 5) Onion 1 small size, sliced
  6. 6) Salt to taste
  7. 7) Dalda or your choice of Banaspati Ghee 4 tbsp
  8. Fried Garnish
  9. 1) Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
  10. 2) Garlic pieces 4
  11. 3) Red chili whole 2
Method
  • 1. Wash lentils with warm water, put in a pan with 3 cups water, all the spices, garlic and ginger paste and onion.
  • 2. Cook till the lentils are tender then add green chili and let it simmer.
  • 3. Fry garlic, cumin seeds and red whole chili in banaspati and add to the lentils.
  • 4. Serve hot.
