Ingredients
  1. 250 gm Whole Black lentils
  2. 1/2 cup Tamarind pulp
  3. 2 tbsp Sanbhar Masala
  4. 2 tbsp Jaggery
  5. 1 tsp Crushed black pepper
  6. 1 tsp Crushed red pepper
  7. 1/4 cup Oil
  8. 1 tsp Salt
  9. 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
  10. 1/2 tsp heaped Fenugreek seeds
  11. 1 tsp Mustard seeds
Method
  • Cook ½ cup tamarind pulp, 2 tbsp Sanbar Masala and 2 tbsp jaggery until it becomes thick, dry roast 1 tbsp sesame seeds, ½ tsp fenugreek seeds, 1 tsp crushed black pepper, 1 tsp crushed red pepper and grind together.
  • Cook lentil with 2 cups of water till tender, heat ¼ cup oil in a pan.
  • Add 1 tsp mustard seeds with the tamarind mixture, 1 tsp salt and the cook lentil mixture, cook for 10 minutes, garnish with coriander leaves and green chilies.
