Ingredients
  1. Chicken boneless ½ kg
    Tomatoes 2
    Onion 2
    Capsicum 2
    Rice 300 gm
    Gram lentils boiled 125 gm
    Cinnamon 2 sticks
    Star anise 2
    Bay leaf 1
    Onion 1
    Salt to taste
    Tamarind pulp 2 tbsp
    Crushed black pepper 1 tbsp
    Soya sauce 1 tbsp
    Worchester sauce 1 tbsp
    Oil ¼ cup
    Shashlik sticks as required
Method
  • In a bowl marinated chicken pieces with 2 tbsp tomato ketchup, 1 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp Worchester sauce, salt to taste, 1 tbsp crushed black pepper and 2 tbsp lemon juice.
    Cut 2 onions, 2 capsicum and 2 small tomatoes into cubes.
    Thread marinated chicken in shashlik sticks altering with vegetable cubes. Put shashlik sticks in a greased oven tray. Bake in a preheated oven for 15 – 20 minutes.
    Heat ¼ cup oil in a pan, add 1 chopped onion and sauté for few seconds.
    Now add 1 bay leaf, 1 star anise and 2 cinnamon sticks. Sauté for 2 minutes.
    Add 125 boiled gram lentils, 300 gm soaked rice, salt to taste and water as required.
    Cook till rice starts coming on top. Now put baked chicken sticks on top of rice. Cover with a little boiled rice and simmer on low flame for 8 – 10 minutes.
    Dish it out and serve hot.
