Ingredients
  1. 4 drumsticks (Saijan Ki Phali)
  2. 1 tblsp oil
  3. 1/2 mustard seeds
  4. a pinch of asafoetida
  5. 1 cup blank gram flour
  6. a lemon-sized ball of tamarind in ½ cup water
  7. 2 tblsps jaggery
  8. ½ tsp turmeric
  9. ½ tsp chilli powder
Method
  • Cut drumsticks (Saijan Ki Phali) into 3' pieces and boil in 2 cups of water.
  • When tender, drain, and reserve the water.
  • Heat oil, add mustard feeds, and when they begin to crackle, add asafoetida and flour.
  • Saute for 5 minutes. Strain the tamarind juice, and add this and the remaining ingredients to the reserved water.
  • Put in the drumsticks and cook on a slow fire till the gravy thickens.
  • Remove when done and server it.
